    This multiple discounts assignment has reaffirmed many of the things that my wife and I have put into practice over the years to gain the best discount available.  So you could say that I learned that the shopping methods that we have been using are a good way to go.

    The ideas and story problems can be applied at so many levels, not just in shopping but also choosing what to do with taxes even. Shopping though is a great way to show what a coupon does before or after an in store discount. So when given the option at the store to take 10% or 20% or 30%... or to take that number in a dollar amount discount I would choose the percentage off if the sub total is over $100.

    The main concept learned from this is the use of a composite function. It helped me explore the concept in more of a hands on approach through the shopping examples given. It also helps with the idea of substituting real world material in for the variable x.
